Interior architecture for a townhouse on a quiet block in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Common Projekts is the interior architect and the owner's representative through construction, working alongside a separate architect of record for the DOB filing, an arrangement we offer to clients who want one designer responsible for how the house feels from the first sketch to the last punch-list walk.
The scope runs across roughly 1,800 square feet: kitchen, powder room, a main lounge, and a listening lounge lined in cork for the sound of it, plus the connective spaces that make a narrow Brooklyn townhouse feel like one continuous room. Every finish was selected, drawn, and specified by the studio, and the interior selections are tracked with the client through our portal so nothing is decided twice.
The material story does the work here: a breeze-block facade, clay plaster and tadelakt on the walls, cork underfoot and on the wall where it matters, and white oak throughout. Sliding shoji-style doors split the living spaces when the family wants them split; reeded glass keeps the entry private without making it dark. Custom millwork is fabricated locally in Brooklyn from the studio's shop drawings.
The Alteration Type 1 filing was approved by the Department of Buildings in summer 2026. In construction now.
